Colors
If there is one thing everyone knows about me is that I love colors!!! Rainbows are my favorite thing because it gets all the colors in one :) In my opinion, the more color the better!!
Take a look in my apartment and you'll see I'm not lying!

A light blue and gray dresser in my entry way, a red table with white chairs in my kitchen (my fav piece), a yellow coffee table and a lime green dresser in my bedroom. All these were ordinary pieces until I livened them up with color...color makes everything better!!
And if you look at my December 22 post you'll string lights, colored and white, all over my apartment AND, fyi, they're still up :) Colors are just great!!
I try to incorporate color into my life as much as possible, the more color the better! It makes me feel happy when I'm wearing it and when I'm looking at it! I love walking around NYC, for example, and seeing the blazing billboards (I made it on one once, it was great! - circa freshman year of college)

But I also love going through small towns such as Cooperstown and seeing colors splayed throughout that little town. Having colors like these liven up this little town that is home to the Baseball Hall of Fame. In the winter it is not that busy but once spring and summer hit, this place is poppin' with people from all over. It is one of my favorite places to go and home to one of my fav hotels, the Otesaga Hotel!

The holiday season!!! It is highly anticipated and then it comes and goes quicker than a blink. It's a fast spin through the holidays. First there is Halloween at the end of October. Costumes, candy and crisp autumn leaves, need I say more. Than there is Thanksgiving at the end of November. Turkey and potatoes and stuffing, OH MY! Then there's Christmas, some may say it's there favorite holiday EVER! I mean, what's not to love....snow (although some would disagree with me on that one and I am simply stating what I LOVE about Christmas), caroling, cookies and candy canes, presents, warm fires and my absolute favorite...STRING LIGHTS! I don't know what it is but string lights have always been a source of happiness for me. It's probably because I am such a colorful person (come over and look at my apt, ultimate proof of how colorful I can be!) :D
Lights brighten up any place and I believe it's hard for anyone to stay in a scrooge-esq mood when surrounded by bright and colorful lights!

Symmetry
In doing this website, I am trying to discover what it is that is my "equation" or what I am drawn to when taking pictures.
One thing I have to say that I love, in pretty much life, is symmetry. To have an equal balance of objects, structures, anything really is quite appealing to me! Maybe it's because my own personal life is majority of the time unbalanced and I am always trying to balance it that my eye catches moments of symmetry and I must capture it....I don't know, just thinking out loud here.
A couple years ago I went to Paris, France and I found some really nice pictures I took that demonstrate symmetry and I want to share them with you here!

Some symmetry to me is not only a perfect balance as in find the middle and it's the same on the left as it is on the right. Symmetry also includes equal spacing or the same number of an object despite the plane they are on not being straight or in the middle of the picture.

FILTERS
Filtering is a very big obsession in today's picture taking world! Filtering a picture so much can completely alter an original photograph that when you see the original, you just can't believe that's even the same picture! I LOVE original pictures. I don't always like how pictures get altered by a filter and so I am particular with what pictures I filter and which ones I don't.
All of the pictures I have put up so far are completely 100% original, that means no filters. Don't get me wrong, you can pull out some amazing colors when adding a tinted red filter or make a picture taken today look like it was taken long ago, giving it that vintage look, by adding a black and white filter which I think is absolutely amazing and from time to time do apply these kinds of filters to my photos. The set of pictures to the left and the pictures below have been filtered, this is where my love for technology and its capabilities come into play! The pictures to the left have simply been applied basic filters like "amaro", "clarendon" and "moon" from the app Instagram. The ones below (the picture at the top of the box is the original with no filter) have filters applied like "negative", "impressionist" and "gothic noir" to name a few from the basic studio element in my photos on my Samsung Galaxy phone. As much as I love filtering pictures, I never want it to take away from the beauty of the original! |

Something about the fall brings back so many memories about college. When walking around in the fall, there is just a smell in the air that makes me say, "Oh to be on a college campus right now!" Something about the crisp autumn air, cool breezes and crunching of leaves brings back such happy memories and this is true for almost everyone that I know of. All someone has to say is, "Don't you just love the fall season at college?!" and the reply generally is, "Oh I know what you mean!"

I currently live in a college town where 2 colleges are located, Hartwick College and SUNY Oneonta. I decided to make my way through both campuses trying to find the perfect position to get an overlooking view of Oneonta. Incase you did not know, Oneonta is known as the "City of Hills" and this is the absolute truth! Hartwick's campus is perfectly situated among the hills and looks quite picturesque when looking at it. You have to drive through SUCO (SUNY Oneonta) a bit to get up in the hills but it too has quite the viewpoints, it's just a matter of finding them.
The above pictures are the best sites I could find but I'll continue exploring to see what else I can find! |

I recently went to a gallery and while perusing the art, the artist came out and we talked. He informed me that often times, artists have "equations." The only way I feel I can explain this is an "equation" is a particular muse artists pieces reflect. His were chairs, tables and doors...I am not here to judge, to each their own, but these did not seem to me to be all that exciting to draw, paint, etc. But while walking around with him and he explaining to me his different pieces, I began to see and understand his "equation" and how unique it was to him. May not be my style or what I would want to focus on the rest of my life but it worked for him!
If you look at my pictures currently, what would you say my equation is? You're guess is as good as mine.

My equation is not set yet, I am still exploring and experimenting. I love nature (flowers, landscape, etc.), taking pictures of people and food...this I know. I wonder what else I'll soon discover :)
A weekend in review

If there's one thing I love about the northeast is the change of season and especially the change in COLORS!!! I am a very colorful person and if you saw my apartment right now you would know I am telling the absolute truth...I have pieces of furniture painted in all sorts of colors: pink, yellow, lime green, magenta, blue, red, white and I am always looking for more ways to incorporate color!
This fall I am OBSESSED with orange, I just cannot get enough of the rich orange color the tress and flowers have taken, it's absolutely gorgeous!!

For starters...
One thing that everyone knows about me is that I love to talk so I am putting together two of my favorite things here in this website, photography and talking :) There's a specific place in this website where all my photos will be and then here in this tab if there's something I want to say about a picture it will be posted.
*Don't worry, I won't be offended if you don't want to read what I have to say...
I have a habit of just talking whether anyone is listening or not haha!*
